Tuesday 12th September 2022
Classwork: Today we talked about the subjects of verbs, identifying them in our work and learning how to translate them fluently through this presentation. We then completed a worksheet on these.
Wednesday 13th September 2022
Classwork: Today's lesson was a particularly interactive lesson! We had a lesson where we did not write anything, but discussed answers in 'think, pair, share' activities, and then as a whole class, consolidating our knowledge of the present tense. Click here for the lesson notes

Classwork: We had some members of our class out today at the U13 football tournament, so we finished our work on Roman numerals by completing our sudoku and vocabulary wordsearches.
Wednesday 21st September 2022

Today we practised these exercises forming English to Latin sentences using both nominative and accusative noun endings, in both their singular and plural forms!

Today our lesson we synthesised our learning, bringing together our knowledge of noun case endings (nominatives and accusatives) and verb endings (present tense) to translate three extended paragraphs of Latin! What a great half term's progress we have made!

The lesson today covered the new irregular verb 'to be'. We discussed the difference between regular verb endings and 'doing' actions, and then how this new verb is used to describe WHO we are or WHAT we are.

These lessons introduced prepositions in Latin. We learnt 5 new prepositions, and the fact that they are always followed by a noun in the accusative case. We then practised activities translating sentences using prepositions from Latin to English, and then from English into Latin. Click here and here for the activities. |

Tuesday's lesson spent time completing our genitive sentences work from last week. We then completed some Latin puzzles to round off an excellent half term of learning! Well done everyone! There was no lesson on Wednesday due to the Science fair preparation. Have a great half term break Year 8 :) |

We focused on applying our knowledge of the different case endings by applying them in context, as well as sorting them into tables. This week we focused our lessons on revision, as next week is the last week of term before the Easter break. Following the Easter break we will be learning a new grammar concept, so these last few lessons are important to embed, consolidate and practise the grammar we have learnt so far. We revised the case endings we already know, then added the dative rows to our noun table, practising forming these and recognising them in sentences. Tuesday 2nd May
We have spent much time lately focusing on the different cases of nouns, so our lesson today recapped the present tense endings of verbs. Wednesday 3rd May Having recapped verb endings yesterday, we were able to introduce asking questions in Latin. We considered how to ask a question using 'ne' as an alternative to a question mark, and also learnt 4 new question words: ubi, cur, quis and quid. |

In Tuesday's lesson we revisited and consolidated our learning of present tense verb endings before moving onto learning the new 2nd declension dative case in Wednesday's lesson. |
